Why the DMS alone is no longer enough
Workshop management software has made enormous progress over the past decade: digital work orders, online booking, parts ordering, electronic invoicing. But one step remains stubbornly analogue: the pre-handover quality check.
This is the moment between completing the repair and handing the keys to the customer. In practice, it is still a paper sheet ticked by the most available technician — or skipped entirely under time pressure.

What a digital handover check contains
1. The work compliance checklist
A configurable list of 20 to 30 points specific to your workshop type (MRA, bodyshop, tyre centre, dealership after-sales). Each item is ticked Conforming / Non-conforming in one tap. The checklist is set up once in the admin interface and can be updated at any time without technical assistance.
2. Timestamped and geolocated photos
On a non-conformity, the technician takes a photo directly in the app. It is automatically timestamped and attached to the vehicle file. This photo is the key piece of evidence in a customer dispute: it proves the condition of the vehicle at the moment of handover.
3. Workshop manager validation
Before the vehicle is handed over, the workshop manager receives a notification and validates (or rejects) the control on the dashboard. This step formalises the responsibility chain and creates a complete audit trail.
4. Customer link and digital sign-off
The customer can receive a summary of the checks carried out — a strong differentiator compared to competitors who hand over a vehicle with no proof of quality.
How to avoid double entry
The main concern when adding a tool alongside the DMS is creating additional manual input. QCheck is designed to avoid this: it does not need to be connected to the DMS to work. The technician identifies the vehicle by work order number or registration, completes the check, and everything is stored automatically. The DMS continues to manage billing and stock as before.
For workshops wanting deeper integration, an API is available on the Enterprise plan to pull QCheck data directly into reporting tools.
The metric to track first
Start by measuring your customer return rate (vehicles that come back within 7 days of handover). This is the most direct indicator of quality control effectiveness. With QCheck, most workshops see this rate drop by 40–60% within the first three months of use.
